Our neighborhood clothing swap is next weekend, and I want to arrive with a better plan than last time. Previously I brought home several interesting pieces, but none of them worked especially well with the clothes I already had. My first step is photographing the jeans, jackets and skirts I actually wear so I have something concrete to compare. For organizing the color side, I have been exploring color analysis as a starting point rather than a strict rule that excludes something which already matches my favorite clothes. Would you focus on repeating a couple of familiar colors, or on finding one missing layer that connects existing outfits? Trying things on should be possible, although artificial lighting means I do not want to rely entirely on how shades appear. What simple rule helps you leave with clothes you will actually wear rather than another collection of interesting separate pieces? |
