Washington has heard Dustin May Jersey the cries of the people, and will soon make some much-needed changes.That's right: The Commanders are amending their much-criticized crest part of the worst-kept rebranding secret in sports to avoid confusion over the franchise's championship seasons. The original features five years along the bottom of the new circular logo: 1937, 1942, 1983, 1988 and 1992.Problem is, the Redskins didn't win the Super Bowl in any of the latter three years: They did make the Super Bowl in the 1983 season, where they lost 38-9 to the Raiders. They went 7-9 and 9-7 in the '88 and '92 seasons, respectively.MORE: Washington on Tuesday finally conceded that the crest was confusing, and updated it to reflect the seasons the franchise won the Super Bowl not the calendar year in which the games occurred.We heard you loud and clearGoing forward, our crest will reflect our Super Bowl victories using the year from that regular season Washington Commanders (@Commanders) It's hard to call this move a win, considering it addre sed a problem that never needed to exist in the first place. Still, at least there will be no more confusion regarding exactly when the franchise won its five championships (the first two will remain the same, as the NFL championship games in those seasons were held in the same calendar year as the regular season).MORE: Other than that, the Commanders' new rebranded look will remain the same, including color scheme and "W" logo that will be featured on the team's helmets. The Commanders ultimately chose their name over five other finalists Red Hogs, Defenders, Armada, Presidents and Brigade after spending two seasons simply as the "Washington Football Team."That begs yet another question: Since the Commanders bothered to include their NFL championship seasons on the crest (as well as the year they were founded), what happens if Washington wins another Super Bowl?It's a question the Commanders can only answer if they win that next Super Bowl.
