Some PoE 2 problems are easy to ignore until they hit your progression wall, and Immured Fury was one of those bosses for a lot of players. If you were stuck trying to push the encounter, the 0.5.4b update finally gave a clean answer, and it lines up with the kind of grind players already do for Path of Exile 2 Currency while working through Corruption Nexus content.
What changed with Immured Fury
The big fix is simple: Immured Fury can now spawn once you have completed 3 Corruption Nexuses. Before this, some players seemed to run into a dead end where the boss would not appear properly, or the encounter would not move their progression forward the way it should have. That is the kind of bug that feels awful in an ARPG, especially when you are already juggling map clears, drops, and the usual RNG mess.
From a player standpoint, the nice part is that the fix does not sound like it forces a weird reroll or a full reset. If you miss the boss, or fail to kill it on the first try, you can keep going and finish more Corruption Nexuses until it shows up again. That makes the whole thing much less punishing, which is exactly what most people want from endgame progression.
  • Keep tracking your Corruption Nexus count so you know when the boss should be available.
  • If Immured Fury does not appear, do not assume the quest is broken immediately, since extra Nexus clears may still trigger it.
  • Make sure you are actually finishing the objective tied to the encounter, because a clean map clear does not always mean the game registered the progression you expected.
Why players got frustrated
The complaint around Immured Fury was not just that the boss was missing. The bigger issue was the feeling of being blocked for no clear reason. One player even mentioned clearing the area without getting the point tied to Doryani, which is exactly the sort of thing that makes people second-guess whether they missed a step or hit a bug. I could be wrong, but that uncertainty is usually worse than the actual fight.
There was also some community confusion about the trigger itself. People were trying to figure out whether the boss was tied to a rare enemy, a quest step, or some other hidden condition. That sort of mixed info spreads fast in PoE 2 because players tend to test things on their own and repeat whatever worked for them. The patch note clears away most of that noise.
Practical advice before you move on
If you are still progressing through this part of the game, the safest move is to treat Immured Fury like a checkpoint, not a one-and-done event. Clear the required Corruption Nexuses, keep playing normally, and do not panic if the boss is not there on the first pass. In my experience, these fixes usually matter most for players who are pushing content in a straight line and do not want to waste time wondering whether they missed some hidden spawn rule.
Rewards and the unanswered part
Some players also brought up whether Immured Fury always drops a Fracture Orb, but the patch information here does not confirm any reward change. That means the only thing we can say with confidence is that the spawn condition has been fixed. If you were hoping for a guaranteed loot adjustment, there is nothing in the notes backing that up, so it is better to manage expectations.
The good news is that the encounter itself should now be reachable in a much more reliable way. That alone helps a lot, because a boss that refuses to spawn is more annoying than a boss with a rough drop table. The fix should make progression feel less stalled and less dependent on players guessing at hidden requirements.
What to watch for next
For anyone still chasing the encounter, the key thing is to keep count of your Corruption Nexuses and stay alert once you hit 3 completed ones. If Immured Fury still gives you trouble after that, the issue is more likely to be on the encounter side than on your route. And if you are planning your late-game progression around drops and repeat clears, it never hurts to keep an eye on POE 2 Divine Orbs while you farm, since currency goals and boss farming usually end up tied together anyway.
