The Blink rhythm is the first thing that defines this PoE 2 setup: you are not standing still and spamming one spell, you are hopping through packs and letting CoC do the work. That movement-first feel makes the build much more engaging than a normal caster, and it also means your gear choices matter from the start. If your setup is missing mana sustain or crit consistency, you will feel it fast, so people who buy or trade for Path of Exile 2 Currency usually save a lot of trial and error when putting the core pieces together.
How the Blink CoC loop actually plays
The basic loop is simple: Blink into a pack, land crits, and keep Comet firing often enough that the screen stays busy. That sounds easy on paper, but in practice the build lives or dies on timing. Too little crit and the whole thing feels flat. Too little cooldown recovery and the chain starts to stutter. The payoff, when it works, is a very fast map clear style where you spend more time repositioning than aiming.
  • Get crit chance stable before you chase more damage.
  • Keep mana recovery high enough that Blink never feels awkward.
  • Use movement as part of your offense, not just as escape tech.
  • Do not ignore cooldown recovery, because the build feels clunky without it.
Why Gemling Legionnaire fits the idea
Gemling Legionnaire makes sense here because the ascendancy helps smooth out the parts of the build that normally feel messy. Extra gem value, better scaling options, and more room to balance offense with defense all fit a trigger build that wants consistency over raw paper DPS. In my experience, that is the real appeal: you are not trying to create a giant one-button nuke, you are trying to make every Blink count and keep the engine running.
What most players should prioritize
Crit, mana, cooldown recovery, and enough survivability to survive bad teleports. Those are the boring stats, but they decide whether the build feels slick or annoying. Energy Shield and evasion both work as support layers, and spell scaling is still valuable, but none of that matters if the trigger chain falls apart. A lot of newer players probably make the mistake of stacking damage first and wondering why the setup never feels smooth.
Gear and passive tree choices that matter most
For gear, the best items are usually the ones that solve several problems at once. Look for crit-related stats, mana regen, maximum mana, cast speed, and cooldown recovery where you can get it. Weapon DPS is not the point here; reliability is. On the passive tree, keep the focus on crit chance, crit multiplier, spell damage, cold damage, and enough mana support to avoid dead moments during long fights. Bossing is still workable, but you need to keep the Blink rhythm clean and not overextend into mechanics that break your tempo.
What this build does well, and where it starts to wobble
Map clearing is where the setup really shows off. Dense packs feed the trigger loop, so Legion, Breach, and other crowded content tend to feel better than sparse layouts. The weak spots are also pretty obvious: heavy mana pressure, a real need for good gear synergy, and boss phases that interrupt your flow. If you are the kind of player who likes fast movement, flashy spell chains, and a little bit of controlled chaos, this is a fun one. And when you start gearing out the final pieces, many players just grab cheap POE 2 Currency Orbs instead of waiting around for perfect drops.
